Artsuite is an online platform that celebrates contemporary art by showcasing artists, sharing collectors' perspectives, publishing art books, and offering limited-edition works to connect more people with meaningful art. Though we’ve organized exhibitions, Artsuite is not a traditional gallery. Rather, we work on a project-by-project basis, seizing opportunities - both physical and virtual - to connect artists with the broader community.
Artsuite also offers personalized art consultancy and advisory services for private collectors and corporate clients alike. Leveraging extensive experience in museums, public art, and corporate collections, we guide everyone from burgeoning collectors to seasoned institutions, helping them discover, acquire, and display contemporary art in ways that are meaningful, impactful, and aligned with their vision. Who we are
Allen Thomas
Founder
Allen Thomas describes his drive to collect art as a compulsion—one he’s eager to share as widely as possible. Fueled by a deep love of art and admiration for artists, he has spent more than three decades building one of North Carolina’s largest private collections. His holdings have been featured in major solo exhibitions at the North Carolina Museum of Art, CAM Raleigh, Turchin Center in Boone, the Taubman in Roanoke, SECCA in Winston-Salem, Barton College, the Wilson Arts Center, and the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum, and he has donated more than 100 works to permanent institutional collections.
The collection began almost by accident. As an undergraduate art student, when his own attempts at making work fell short, Allen spent his studio time talking with more talented classmates—and asking to buy their pieces. Several of those early acquisitions still hang on his walls. He later expanded the collection through visits to small New York galleries, and in 1993 a pivotal trip to New Orleans shifted his focus to contemporary photography. After wandering into a French Quarter gallery devoted solely to photography and spending hours in conversation with the owner, Allen left with an armful of prints and a new direction. While photography remains central, his collection now embraces a wide range of contemporary expression.

Marjorie Hodges
Founder
Marjorie Hodges is a highly regarded resource for valuable information on the contemporary art market. As a seasoned museum professional and community leader, Hodges is an ardent advocate for arts and culture. Throughout her career, she has championed contemporary artists through her work at CAM Raleigh, Flanders Gallery, and the North Carolina Museum of Art. Notably, Hodges played a pivotal role in securing significant public art installations and acquisitions for Dorothea Dix Park and the NCMA Museum Park. Presently, she serves on the North Carolina Arts Council, The National Gallery of Art Collectors Committee, and chairs the Dix Park Conservancy's Arts Task Force. Furthermore, she provides independent art consulting services to both private collectors and corporate collection projects. At the heart of her endeavors lies an unwavering passion for the arts, community building and active philanthropy.

Ben Alper
Project Manager
Ben Alper is an artist, printer and publisher based in Carrboro, North Carolina. His work has been exhibited and published nationally and internationally. He holds a BFA in Photography from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design and an MFA in Studio Art from UNC–Chapel Hill. He is one half of Sleeper and runs Flat Space Studio, a digital print studio in his home.
At Artsuite, Ben’s role is wide-ranging: he manages publishing projects, collaborates with artists on special projects and commissions, oversees the website, prints editions, conducts interviews, and writes about artists’ work.

Alva Horton
Social Media Manager
Artsuite’s resident marketer and social media maven is Alva Horton. A designer with deep roots in North Carolina, she has an undergraduate degree in studio art and Interior Design from Meredith College and a MA in History of Art from University of York, England where her concentration was on Modernist art and architecture in Germany and France between the two world wars. She simultaneously runs the Assemblage Studio for her marketing & creative endeavors and Orenge, a series of coworking spaces throughout Durham that incorporate her emotion-driven spatial philosophy and branded interiors.
